Something people have struggled to get their head around with virtual events is if and when they should be charging for attendance. There are a few ways to go about it and it doesn’t only have to be through the traditional way of charging for ticket sales (though that will be our first point!). Read on for more ideas.
Recently we held an event for a conference that ended up with 3 times (!) the amount of anticipated attendees, all able to retrieve their CPD points after attending! The event managed to connect guests from all over South Africa to listen to top speakers in their field, get up to speed with developments in their industry, and stay at the forefront of their profession. The event was filled with expert information, high engagement and interaction from all guests, with Live Polls, Live Q&A, commentary, speaker ratings and ice breakers.
Virtual Events can either be thought of as a challenge or an opportunity, and to be honest, it has a bit of both - just like physical events do. One of the biggest opportunities (we think) in Virtual Events is the chance to really create a spectacular show for the theatre in your attendee’s minds.

Hybrid events are fast becoming the future of the event management industry. With COVID-19 nearly crippling the industry entirely, events companies have had to pivot 360 degrees in order to stay afloat. Online gatherings have now become common place and have resulted in major developments in virtual technology. However, with the reopening of the events industry, albeit still under social distancing restrictions, hybrid events are quickly becoming the go-to for event’s planners and have shown promising results in growing the industry to new heights.
We’ve been doing Online Events through event websites, RSVP management and mobile apps since we started out in 2013, but now we’ve had the chance to really take a deep dive into providing Virtual Event solutions for our event planners, and we are looking forward to pushing the boundaries with our innovative team even further.

In our last newsletter we were just about to launch the Knowledge Series, and so far we’ve done two webinars which were filled with insight from our guest speakers and discussions with guests. Our first webinar on 13 May had guest speaker Steve Pinto, CEO of New Reality and the second webinar on 27 May had Co-founder of Still Human, Andy Golding, sharing tips for speakers and maintaining a human connection online.
We’ve done a lot over the last few months and had a ton of variety with the virtual events we are doing. We felt it would be apt to put together a full showcase to show event organisers the capabilities. On the 23rd of September we will hold the first Flock showcase of virtual events where we will skim through the multitude of various productions we’ve been a part of. We’ve loved exploring the virtual event space, and one of the best things to come out of this new chapter has been the creation of a professional studio space where your event hosts can dazzle audiences. We’ve seen some incredible events being brought to our stage, and being transmitted to screens all over the world. Live streamed, pre-recorded, a mix of both – we’ve created them all and have loved being able to push the boundaries of attendees’ expectations.
